So, the built in wireless adapter on my computer is dying.
I turn it on, everything is working properly and then within 15 minutes I no longer have internet connection.
I turn the wireless off, then back on again and things work well for a few minutes before it stops working again.
I either have to finger out a way to replace the adapter, run a cord from the living room the whole way to the computer room or replace the computer because it has failed me.
Stupid Computers
USB Wireless adapters are very cheap, if you can stay online long enough to order one you should be able to have one for less than $20.
ReplyDeleteOr you can trot over to Best Buy, Radio Shack, Staples, or any electronic store and buy a cheapo that goes into any USB port.
DeleteMy computer has 3 USB ports.
Delete1 first my mouse
1 first my external hard drive
1 first my cooling fan
I might have to try living without my mouse
I'm sure it has nothing to do with the time I spilled a Monster on it back in '10.

DeleteThis sounds more like a software issue to me since it works again immediately when you turn it back on. Maybe a conflict of some kind. Did the problem coincide with the installation of any new hardware or software?
ReplyDeleteCould you download and then uninstall/reinstall the driver for the adapter? It's free except for 15-20 minutes of your time.
I have not installed any new hardware or software in the past 4 months minimum.
DeleteHowever on my next day off I will play with the drivers and see if that does anything.
